Welcome to the Cooper Middle School Visual Arts Webpage!Art Teacher- Mrs. RichardsonContact InformationA note to student's and parents for the start of online courses.Thank you students and parents for coming to Cooper’s visual art’s site as we start our first official week online. You can find each grade level’s assignments listed in the top tabs listed for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Students should not have any more than 30 minutes of work per day, however through experience with students who have developed a passion for their art making... I could imagine some will want to spend more time with it. That’s OK! But please make sure you are keeping up with your other classes as well. I’m sure some people are a little anxious getting started and I want you to know that I am here for for everyone to answer questions and bounce creative ideas. Nothing is too small of a question and I welcome check ins or just plain simple “hello”s. I’m currently working out a way to perhaps have some group video chats with classes and will email info out/ post instructions in the next couple of days (these will not be required but could be a great way for students missing out on peer interactions to relieve some of that stress and show off what they’ve been working on). If you as a parent feel that your student would benefit from a one on one instruction/conversation through the phone or even as a video call please do not hesitate to email me and we can set up a time. I look forward to working with you and your students in this new online experience.

Recycled Art Show March 21st, 2020 11-4 p.m. Hosted at Kennesaw State University's Spring Arts Festival (This show has been cancelled due to the guidelines from the Cobb County School district and the cancellation of KSU’s Spring Arts Festival which has no rescheduled date for the 2020 school year. We are waiting to see when school may resume and/or what guidelines will be set for group gatherings in the next couple of weeks before attempting to reschedule at a different location or possibly host the show as an online art show. Please check back in the next couple of weeks for any updates) Is it junk, trash, or treasure? Whatever you like to call it, recyclable materials can become a valuable resource in the eyes and hands of an artist. This art invitational is a chance for students to rethink, re-imagine, and reinvent the concept of what art is or has to be…And while we’re at it, do our part to contribute to the three R’s of recycling: reduce, reuse, and recycle.
