This week we have begun to examine ourselves and explore what makes our inner light shine brightest. This lesson combines personal values and the technical skill of creating value within and outside each student's own circle of light. What makes you shine brightest?
This week 8th Grade students have finished up their Compositions to the Point projects and will begin a unit on abstract art in the style of Kandinsky. By listening to music, students are creating their own abstract non-objective pieces that reflect what they hear. Kandinsky listened to the classical music of Tchaikovsky to create his masterpieces. For our class we will use modern day "beats" to reflect and create our own interpretations of Kandinsky's abstract non-objective works.
Friday we will be going outside for a fun Friday activity and a lesson on aesthetics/aesthetic experiences. Remember...sometimes the experience/process of creating an artwork is more important than the finished product!
8th Grade art students have started their first art project this week! We have learned about composition and how to create the illusion of 3-D shapes and letters on a 2-D surface by using a vanishing point. Students have created letter stencils to move around their selected vanishing points to help them create their own unique compositions.
Welcome to class students! This week we will be creating our own in class sketchbooks, taking a look at the elements of art and principles of design, and learning about the classroom procedures. There are several meetings that I will be taking you to as we welcome back everyone and you prepare for your 8th grade year!
